Ragnarok Online Links

Post by Crow »

The main focus of this link collection is iRo, but they will mostly apply to other servers as well.

http://irowiki.org/ - main source of up-to-date RO knowledge. Wiki is updated daily and forums are the most active ones.
http://ro.amesani.org/db/ - Most up to date iRo database.
http://ragial.com/ - Market information for iRO servers.
http://calcx.wushuang.ws/ - Most up to date calc I know of.
http://web.hc.keio.ac.jp/~fk061999/hime ... index.html - Best skill planner
http://roproject.net/calc/ - Another calc
http://ro.doddlercon.com/wiki - Wiki about newest RO updates. Contains some nice compilations, that can't be found on irowiki.

http://rojournal.doddlercon.com/ - Doddler's RO journal.
http://ratemyserver.net - Some useful information, not iRo centric however. Good database.
http://ww4.enjoy.ne.jp/~to4/hom/hom.html - Homunculus calc.
http://iro.ragnarokonline.com/ - Official site. Get your downloads here. Forums are decently active but full of noobs.
http://roempire.com/ - Our first RO elementary book is still up. Not very active, but still contains valuable info.
http://rodatazone.simgaming.net/ - Ragnarok Online Mechanics in detail. No longer updated, but still applies.

Renewal
http://forums.irowiki.org/showthread.php?t=24524 <-- compilation of mechanics changes in renewal
http://forums.irowiki.org/showpost.php? ... ostcount=1 <-- balancing info about old skills
http://forums.irowiki.org/showthread.php?t=33721 <-- information compilations for classes.
http://web.hc.keio.ac.jp/~fk061999/hime ... index.html <-- skill planner for 3rd classes
http://ro.doddlercon.com/wiki/index.php <-- Doddler's Ro-Future wiki also has information about renewal

For reference the old list of links is available on old forums:
http://multiworld.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=481

However:
1) most links are dead or outdated
2) They are mostly based on eAthena and/or kRo, rather than official iRo servers.

Yes they are, but they offer less xp when your level is lower. I believe it is best to do them after level 90? Or maybe even keep them for your trans class? Probably it is not enough xp anyway to care... On the other hand, it would be cool to do some of those quests together.

I've sumed up those quests with fixed amount of exp, and all of them should give around 1/3 of 98 lvl. I think I will keep them till 98 because at that level death will hurt most.
Trans will be tough too, but I think leveling with trans will be easier though. Much more hp, sp amd better skills (hopefully gear too)

Anyway, some links:

Thinking about transcending at the moment is very far fetched :D. Still I found some interesting suggestion while reading this guide:

http://write.ratemyserver.net/ragnoark- ... own-guide/
After you have hit 99 as a bard, you will basically level the exact same way. However, if you have not done any quests yet, it would be a good idea to do those to get the early levels of trans out of the way. Start with the Ice Necklace Quest to get you to the required level of 50 for some of the other quests. Usually it is a good idea to do these quests up to the point where you receive exp when you are 99 so you can get the exp quickly as a trans. After the Ice Necklace Quest do the Friendship Quest to get you to base 60 if you were not already at base 60 after the Ice Necklace Quest (I forget exactly what level you get after the Ice Necklace Quest). Then do the How the Airship Works Quest which will allow you to do the Heart Fragment Quest to get most of your job levels as a high archer. If it does not get all of your skill points, finish it up with a bit of leveling. Then do the Bruspetti, Medicine, and Biological Weapon Quest for base exp and then the Lost Child and Rachel Sanctuary Quest for some job and base. This should get you to around 83/35 trans by just doing quests.
This might turn out to be useful later on and I don't want to have to look for it again. I will obviously have to check the min level requirements for those quests, and verify if the xp gained is not scaled with level. The possibility to get to 2nd trans job without spending ages on geos is so damn attractive.

Note, that the same guide mentions some good spots for party leveling (something that is very hard to find on various Ro boards): Majorous, Thor, Magma Dun and Ice Dun till 90. Than on 90+ Thor and obviously biolabs with trans players. The author suggests, that a good time to start partying at Majos is base 70, which is basically as soon as we get second job. Looking forward to some leet leveling parties!

Notice that this exp guide doesn't consider repeatable exp quests. They are very important in my leveling plan. I did some simple calculations:

Novice High 2 → 20/9, 875 Chrysalis (average price for one: 52z, total cost: 45 500z)
Trans 1st 20/1 → 45/29, 6000 Powder of Butterfly (avg. Price: 170z, total cost: 1 mil)
Trans 1st 45/29 → 60/33, 7500 Earthworm Peeling ( avg. Price: 190, total cost: 1,5 mil)

(Actually it's worth to switch to peelings at 25, because they give 10 orange and more exp, but I'm too lazy to calculate it again)

Pots will give some zeny back, and if you use battle manual exp is even better.

We also must consider that our gear totally sux, so it won't be easy even to get to majos at 70. We need everyone to get some job levels, so wiz would have sg and quag, priest ressu and suff, etc.
I'm looking forward to magma dungeon. It's awesome exp, loots and rather easy, BUT we need everyone equipped with fire dmg reduction gear. I've checked market and found out that Lucius's Fierce Armor of Volcano (http://ragial.com/view/3I2344) is rather cheap and gives us fire element, so I hope everyone will get it around lvl 80. Of course fire dmg skills aren't only threat and decent hp is needed anyway, at least to survive hit or two if something spawns on us.

Did you take into account, in your calculations, that on Valk repeatable quests give 75% exp?

Yes, there is special option for that on the calculator:

So.. there's quests now huh?... Interesting, I've been completely out of the RO loop for years. Does this make lvling faster and, dare I say, more enjoyable? If so, I may need to reconsider my playing or not.

Certainly it makes leveling faster, but I don't think it's more enjoyable.
Enjoyable was our noob zerg party at high orcs. Mosciovia is coming to server soon, and I think it's in our leveling range, so I hope we'll explore it together too.
